Waystation Stories

Samuel and Pierre

Samuel had been at the Clinic for several months, and according to the adoption coordinator, was regressing.  When he first arrived, he purred easily, but as time went on it was getting harder and harder to get him to purr at all.  So they asked me to take and work with him.

He was terrified and timid when I brought him home and spent the first 24 hours or so hiding behind the toilet.  It didn't take him long to discover that there was a sunny window he could sit in and watch the world go by.   But he was still scared, held his tail tightly up under his body at all times.  I knew one sign he was relaxing would be when I actually got to SEE his tail.

He started to relax, at least a little.  Not only would he purr, but he'd roll over for tummy rubs.  I was concerned, though, that he was spending too much time by himself.  I was spending as much time as I could with him, but there were still too many hours he spent alone.  Samuel needed a friend.
